RC10DS in breakout class
RC10DS in breakout class
hello, i'm picking up a dual sport that i plan on running in a breakout class on our local carpet oval track.
the rules are pretty simple, any 1/10th scale car, turn a lap faster than 5sec. you break out and loose that lap.
the ds has already been changed over to tc wheels/tires so tires will be easy enough to find.
i had a dual sport back in the day when we had parking lot racing around here. i don't remember breaking anything on the car but wanted to know if there was parts you guys would recommend i have found and on hand before i need them.
from what i've seen and remember the arms and towers were about the only thing that were ds only. i can't imagine breaking a tower so i plan trying to get a set of front and rear arms to have on hand. then maybe the front axle assembly.
it's coming with 2 bodys that i'll run until i pick one out i plan on running. i don't have one picked out for sure but i have my eye on the hpi camaro 200mm vta body so far.
are there any dual sport classes around still racing, or are any of you still racing your dual sports in any other classes?

Re: RC10DS in breakout class
the only think I ever broke was front c hub and steering knuckles...but trying to jump a ds like my gt wasn't the best idea I had back then

Your pix look familiar. Did you have it listed recently on ebay?

yeah, this things been around. i've seen pics of the same car on about three different sites. it did come from a member here but he had it listed on another site for sale.
i don't know how far i'll get with my ds collection but i'm hoping this is the first of 4 cars. the other 3 consisting of an original gold chassi, black chassi, and an all out custom carbon fiber one.

Killer looking DS. I like the deanoed look with the speed holes drilled in the chassis. It reminds of a 1:1 race car. Are you using Traxxas front hubs for the TC wheels?

Re: RC10DS in breakout class
still working on the ds. i managed to pick up a rc10nds roller for parts or using for putting together another car.
what would i need to change to an rc10ds? i'm thinking tranny chassi and maybe rear shock tower.

Re: RC10DS in breakout class
Yes, but they sold a conversation kit that could be used with pretty much any RC10.lil_man72 wrote:did all the rc10ds cars come with black chassis?
Re: RC10DS in breakout class
i'd forgotten about the coversion kit. that's probably what the original car i used to have was. i've been focusing on offroad racing and haven't had anytime or money go towards the ds.
