Original Ultima dogbone question

Post by fredswain »

OK Ultima owners I'm hoping you can help me out. Were the original dogbones longer or shorter than those of the original RC10? The reason I ask is because I am recreating my old RC10 from when I was a kid. It had a Bullet Powerglide belt drive but I still used dogbones. Most people opted for a telescoping driveshaft conversion but those required either trailing arms or new rear arms. As a kid I had a limited budget and those added lots to cost. Anyways, the reason I'm asking this here is because the Powerglide uses the Ultima gear diff and outdrives. However the stock RC10 dog bones are too long. I don't remember how I made it work anymore and Barry Raborn (owner of Bullet) doesn't even remember since he used the telescoping driveshafts. Are the Ultima bones shorter? I'm hoping that is the missing key to making it work again.

I wish I could help more but since RC10 parts were all Standard and Kyosho parts all Metric, they're definitely not going to be exactly the same.

Optima and Ultima dogbones are the same, right? If so, they're about 1/4" longer than RC10 dogbones.
