Vonats blue moon runner/shelfer 6 gear

Post by askbob »

It seems I have a bunch of new projects all at once, so I'll get this one underway while I'm at it. Been jonesing for a nice original 6 gear gold pan that could double as a once in a blue moon runner/shelfer. Hope to be able to make the Vonats one of these years. Picked up this super nice car from Adam with all of the original paperwork, box, and receipts. $366 was a bit of coin for play toys in 1990! It already has the metal idler gears and Losi diff tube as well as the outdrive bearings in place of the felt seals. Very clean so just a quick rebuild of everything and getting the transmission to be smooth ought to do. Picked up some new wheels and tires with the rear tires being almost new. Thinking of a nice boxart body or something factory looking. Going to keep the Associated stock motor unless a new Reedy mod comes along. A like new Novak T-4, new Trinity battery, and a un-used Futaba Magnum JR set also with all of the orignal receipts. Trying to keep this one old school all the way. Patience has paid off with this hoard...

So cool Bob, was wondering if you had some updates on it. Please tell me you can get that trans spinning smoothly!

I thought maybe it was a "Blue Moon Of Kentucky" reference when I saw that title. Brought to mind PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES. That'll be a fun one to drive. 8)
