A few years!!

Post by Dunegoon57 »

Hi...
First post here... Last night I decided to dig out my rc10 that I purchased and built in 1985. I was in 7th grade and was hooked on rc immediately. I drove and raced this car for several years thereafter. Needless to say time went by and the car sat....and sat...and sat. So approximately 10 years later (yesterday), I pull it out, charge the battery, throw in 8 fresh coppertops in my Futaba Magnum, and run 3 batterys full around my 10 year old sons bmx track very successfully. Big jumps, fast turns, and good times. I did break a rear spring retainer but what do you expect after a decade. Even the old resistor speed control worked great. These things never die!! I am hooked all over again and will be upgrading as things break Im sure... Glad to be a part of the group and a proud rc10 owner!!

Welcome back to the hobby - you'll find a lot of nutcases here who have a similar story to yours... you're with friends

The normal ritual is you show us car pics now 8)

Welcome!
Im also new here, and have found tons of great info after discovering my old rc10 in the parents attic after 20years.
You hit it right on the head when you said these never die, it is a testament to the quality product they used to make in this country.
One of the primary reasons behind my "old is new" build was to have an AMERICAN MADE buggy to race the new modern stuff.

Pretty much everyone has the same story. I'm so glad I found this place and rekindled my love of RC. Fwiw, I put new gear in my car and hit 48 mph on my street with it :D so they are capable of much more.

The car went through many changes as parts broke and attempts at upgrades. It has aftermarket wider arms, not sure what brand, a truck body that looks like maybe a box or two have been thrown on it, and an aluminum wing. And regretfully a chassis that has several large holes I drilled in it (assuming my attempt to reduce weight). I will try to post a few pics soon.

Ok.... Car is running great. Performs great against some of the bottom line new school buggies. I have broken a wheel and want to upgrade to some modern dirt wheels and tires. I went to my local hobby shop and all they have is truck stuff. I dont want used stuff....Where do I find some new, or wheels that bolt up? Thanks guys!!!

Lots of guys (myself included) use these: http://www.jcracingproducts.co.uk/products/

Tunnel down their menus via:

JC Racing >> Wheels >> 1/10 Buggy Off Road >> Associated RC10 5 Spoke

Bolt right on an old RC10, and let you mount modern tires. I've ordered twice, and always great service. Really durable wheels too!

Awesome, I've got an RC10 waiting for me in storage too. I've last run mine 10 years ago... I can't wait to dig it out when I move back home! This site is super-addictive!

I’m jealous that you still have your first RC. I sold my first and I would love to have my Rc10gt rtr, but I’ve replaced it in my adulthood with others, but there is something about all the others I’ve had the won’t ever match my first one. Congrats on keeping it. Don’t ever sell it.
