"What's old is still old" Post Race Update!

Post by PBR Allstar »

So after selling off my team car racer that I've had since new to Jamie K a handful of months ago I've missed having one around. So starting over from scratch is kind of nice, the stuff is less sentimental now which is a good thing as far as going racing is concerned.

I picked up this C.E. recently and decided I want to take it to the track, I had to have a gold pan car a'la Ruffy/Reggie/J.Harris, just so people at the track knew it was an old '10.

The build is really straight forward, fresh shocks, one of the silkiest diffs ever, basic B4 wheel conversion for now (I had a ton of B4 wheel/tire sets so that's what I'm gonna use for now), and RCP bell cranks that I massaged a bit to get the clearance and bumpsteer where I wanted it.

I have a 10.5 mocked up in the car right now but I'll probably run it with a mildly ramp'd 13.5. I still need a few small parts, waiting on B4 slipper plates and trying to think up a creative body mount for the viper shell.

So what did you use for running the B4 wheels front and rear?

I hear great turn in, and then they lose the nose mid corner? This is what I read from I think JHarris and Reg and I talked about it. I think it will be fine to go shake the car out though, I'm sure I'll want to change a few things afterwards.

In my opinion, not as well as when you use the stock geometry and TT rear rims and the Duratrash or Proline front rims. On an car that has has the what's old is new treatment it's fine (since you are at B4 width and geometry anyway) but with the short arm config with the B4 rims and especially the wide GT front axles, it looses a lot of grip in the center of the corner all the sudden-

I ran mine back to stock trim and it's twitchy compaired, but way faster in the corners-

I think that is Ford's plan as well- as he mentioned, Jeff and Ruffy and myself went through both too
