Project Futaba FX10 "Mountain out of a molehill"

Post by Brandon G »

This is a Futaba FX10 project I had brewing, decided to get it out and snap a few pics of it to share. Not your high performance racecar by any stretch, especially with the friction dampers and single a-arm front suspension.... Decided to give it a little love. You all know me, I can't stand to leave anything alone. Even if it is an entry level vehicle.

Anyway, I got this car a long time ago in really good condition. It came with the original box with body and decals and pretty much everything else you'd get in a new kit. I think it had been run once. It was dirty more than anything else. Replaced a few parts that had any telltale of being run. Added a set of my See's wheels for the FX10 and a Paragon Stock racing motor. I still need to complete the body and install the Futaba ESC. I picked up the CRP front suspension complete from a member on here and added the rear dogbones from CRP as well. Tamiya oil dampers all around. Surprisingly the suspension seems to work really good now! The rear design is better than the Falcon trailing arm suspension. They engineered it to add negative camber through the suspension stroke. Enough jabbering, after all it's only an FX10. :D

Looks good Brandon. A friend of mine's little brother had a Sonic Fighter that we used to take turns running in the stock class at our on road track. It had these ridiculously tall foams on it because you couldn't change the gearing. We would run it in reverse and then slam it into forward for perfect wheelies. I always thought they were really fun to drive. :D
