Will the 5 or 6-flute bits work ok on aluminum when using a drill press or should they be used in a CNC or lathe?

I have the 3-flute bits from McMaster and the results aren't that pretty when using them on aluminum in a drill press. Will faster or slower speeds give better results or doesn't it matter?

any flutes will work with any material. SFM, surface feet per minute, needs to be taken into account, which varies for a given material. 5 or 6 flute should give you a better finish. You might try bumping up the speed on the drill press with a 3 flute and try again, it's also possible the material might want a slower one also. A dull one could also cause some rough finish.
