To build or not to build

Post by Dirtcar75 »

I recently aquired a bnib 6010 edinger kit and am just torn between assembling and shevling it or keeping it in the box and keeping all the baggies unopened. I meen it is just too cool sitting there in the box unbuilt. But it would alao be awsome to assemble it and paint the body up like the one on the box and just shevle it! Whats your guys opinions? Thanks D.J.

2 years ago I would have said keep it NIB, but now I say build it and shelf it. Just my 2¢. :D

What would your reasoning behind that be? Has the value fell to nothing on them? Soneone turn up a warehouse full of them and they are no so rare anymore? I will NEVER actually play with it i have way to many other rc to go and uae the brand new one but i think an all original bone stock rc10 on the shelf would be kinda cool

While I will always hold that they don't need to be driven to be enjoyed, I do believe they need to be seen.

I've elevated myself to the point that just the pictures are fine with me. I love the hobby, but I rarely wrench anymore. I race or bash a car or two, but have little desire to amass a huge collection. Some days though...

it depends on how much you want to get for it when you sell it. plain and simple. obviously, you'll get more for it unbuilt.

What a nice problem you have there.

A question: Is the factory seal intact or broken?

Good luck with whatever decision you will make.

i would leave it as is. people seem to think that things have to be seen to be appreciated. most of my builds were boxed up after being built. this prevents any uv damage, dust, dirt, and grime that they would collect sitting on a shelf. i enjoy knowing that they are safe and sound in their storage boxes. if you are wanting to build a car from a kit just get a newer kit and keep that one intact. i would take some hi-res pics and post them up for people to see though. :)

You answered your own question. I think (know) it is a lot easier to find a new built car than an un-built kit. And your seal has been cut so you can still look at the parts and handle the chassis and body
