Budget shocks, what's worth getting?
Budget shocks, what's worth getting?
On a vintage rebuild mission and want to change the shocks on my raider but keep it relatively low budget.
Can anyone recommend any that would fit the bill? The car isn't going to be used for racing just bashing really so they don't have to be brilliant just adequate!

These ones, which you already know about from that other topic in the Kyosho forum. You won't find better shocks for the price.

Re: Budget shocks, what's worth getting?
Once you receive them, there are a number of things you can do to extend or shorten them to make them fit various cars, all are quite simple mods like adding spacers inside to reduce the piston travel or installing shorter or longer ball ends/cups. If you buy a set and need help with final lengths, let me know, I'll be glad to help.
EDIT: P.S. The fronts look so big on the front of that Optima because I'm using very short on-road control arms there. With short ball ends and maybe 5mm of plastic spacers inside the pistons, they should fit just like short Kyosho Golds, more or less.

Re: Budget shocks, what's worth getting?
i like the 3racing shocks. i also like the yeah racing shocks, they are even cheaper but they've held up to some abuse.
i run them on my pro mod race clod. i've run both and if i were going to buy another set i'd probably go with the yeah's.
you can also score the blue associated shocks super cheap for the ebay chop shops.
