Open up the cases and make sure the circuit boards or solder joints for the antennas are ok in both the rx and tx. It could also be bad crystals.

you can pick up one of the flysky cheapo 2.4 radios for about $25-$30 shipped and just be done with it. Unless you have some nostalgia issues with the one you are trying to troubleshoot that is. Otherwise you'll end up doing that and spending cash on a new set of crystals...

Has your antenna from your receiver been cut? 6 or 7'' seems a little short.

I havent cut it the crystals r about 4 years old....scenario is was working at this place my buddy got my into rc alittle and a guy from work had some old stuff told me 60 bucks its urs and gaqve me this box i tryed to pay him but he quit his job before my first payyday he only got 25 bucks....contents of said box was a tc3 missing a few essential parts...a rc10t1 alumminum chassis all the arms and turmbucks and wheels just needed a motor esc servo batt.a hitec rx and tx was in the box so i got5 the essential 0parts for the tc3(thats wat i was raceing well turing class)put the rx in and it was a fast as car..i had the novak gtx esc with a reedy modified ultra series brushes...for my first real rc that was nice...i got a tc4 with a diff rx and tx so old faithful got put up...been up ever since and that was 2007.

This is true. Should be 12-16 inches, even more if it's a very old rx!

What kind of motor are you using? I guess if you were using to much motor than your speedcontrol is rated for you may not be getting the 6 volts to operate your reciever properly. because of the amount of drain the motor is pulling from your batteries.
