Help me identify Optima parts

Post by rangerg »

Please help me identify a few parts from a beat up Optima:

A. What kind shocks are the purple ones? They fit the front of an Optima, does anyone know the brand?

B. What kind of rim is it? It fits the OT-66 tire. I'd like to know what brand it is before I decide whether it worth it to clean them up for a runner.

C. What about the shock towers (brand?) - Are they even for an Optima? They are new and by themselves.

D. The gearbox seems to be a cut stock one. I'm not sure if the idler gear is from the belt drive kit or one made from an Optima Mid? It seems to work well, but has anyone been able to cover the hole without that little lexan piece that comes in the drive kit?

E. What is the fiberglass chassis. It could clean up, but what is it, for a dirt oval maybe?

E. I know the Parma tower and Kyosho pinion :-). Anyone want them cheap?

Thanks!

The rim looks like it's a Traxxas. A cut gearbox is probably a sign that it was modded for the belt conversion. I might be interested in the idler gear, if you could upload a better picture. :)

Thanks Coelacanth.
I'm want to use the belt set-up. I just thought it was strange in that the gearbox is a cut stock one, but it seems like the idler gear from the kit. It looks just like this was done:

Thanks Mr. Ed, are the shocks vintage Trinity then? Any idea about the fiberglass chassis part? It fits the Optima.

These look very short though: almost like touring shocks

The top plate is made by JG and it's for oval racing. The battery holders are relocated to mount the pack front to rear on the left side. I had one that I used on one of my optimas.

The wheels are made by proline. The same style was used on an rc10, kyosho...not sure if there was a losi version.

It's great how everyone knows these parts, thanks.

Yes, the purple shocks are short; they are the exact same length as the stock red fronts.

I figured the chassis was for oval racing. There is a hobby shop here and the guy turns his covered deck into a concrete oval track some times, so that may be a runner I could put together in the future.
