Cliff Lett's 1990 ROAR National's Winning RC10 Replica

Post by Ruffy »

I figured I better start a proper thread for this one so it gives me a place to post pictures on the progress as I create a Buggy Master replica from his 1990 Radio Operated Automobile Racing Organization, Nationals winning car.

Here are the magazine article images for Cliff's car that I am reproducing a copy of:

Now this is the sort of build I like to see 8)

Will it be a NIP A chassis that you will be drilling
Experience is that marvelous thing that enables you to recognize a mistake when you make it again.

Yes it will Synergy. But there are no holes to drill here. Just mill the channels and lighten slightly the sides, a little off the motor plate and nose and she's done.
I even have my old shock towers to use for this car, since I too used to run my antennae on the rear tower as well. Just check out pics of my 93 World's car and you will see the antennae coming out the top of the body. I recall running my antennae there, only because I wanted to reduce as much weight as possible, so I figured one steel FH screw and antennae mount off the car works for me, for the World's.

Sorry about that Reggie, I wasn't aware you were going to do this build as well.
I have been sitting on it for some time, but finally decided that I better get off my stuff and get this one done, and one way to motivate that is to start a build thread!
:D

Someone should do a build of that setup Matt had on his car in that pic at the 93 World's above pitted in front of me.

I will post some images soon.
The hardest thing about documenting is remembering to stop for pictures!!!

I have always loved the paint job on that car, but I think the thing that really sets it off are the window rivets. it just looks COOL. I think I may have to make something very similar to put on a gold pan I have here, that happens to have the lightening curve cut into the nose(probably where I got the idea to do that), and I have a set of white wheels too. More of a tribute than a replica. HMMMM....

I was in Cliff's heat at that race. Missed the A by like 1 second. This litte brat named Brian Kinwald knocked me out...lol. That race was the first time anyone ran foam in the X patterns. We all got our Stealth Transmissions right before the race. One of my parts boxes is still my original stealth tranny box around somewhere. Ruffy that is pretty cool can wait to see your finished car.
