I broke a ball stud :(

Post by Cronus »

Today I was out playing around when I had a bit of a wreck and broke a ball stud off.

It sheered the threaded part off inside the camber link on the front of my buggy. Is there anyway to get the rest of that threaded bit out of there? At least one that doesn't involve trying to drill it out? Thanks in advanced

If it is sheered off flush and no exposed threads on either side no easy fix in my book. Looks like you may need to replace the part and stud. Or drill it out and put a long thread stud in it with a nut.

In the front shock tower? Try running another ball stud behind it slowly ( since it is open on the other side and you will be threading the same direction ) if it ruins the "threads" in the fiberglass then you should have a nut on the other side anyway-

If this is in the rear bulkhead, the exact same trick has worked for me in the past-

Great tip Reg! Also, if you make the hole a little larger just use some CA glue on the threads when you go to install the new ballstud.
