Blue Bird Conqueror (kyosho rowdy baja clone)

Post by infamous »

I'm looking for some info on this old buggy. Its made by a company called BlueBird and looks to be a clone of the kyosho's circuit 20 buggies.

Um, looks like it's already been restored.

I love these old nitro buggys... always drooled over the Vannings as a kid, but never got one. Once my kids' college is paid for maybe.

So I took a look at some of those links and noticed that bluebird made the Athena. In the early 80s, the Athena was imported and distributed by AristoCraft / Polk Hobbies. Yes, these are the same guys that sold the Kangaroo, Dolphin and hitec radios.

I managed to gather up enough courage to call Polk Hobbies today to ask if they still had any of the Athenas in stock. I started the conversations with "Before you laugh and hang up...". He actually knew what I was takling about and told me that Polk had moved twice since the mid 80s. During their last move (about 10 years ago), they threw out anything that wasn't made by Aristocraft / Polk....including a ton of rc cars. :(

I guess ebay is the only way to get one of these items.

I look periodically but I still have yet to find a Rowdy Baja in nice condition for a reasonable price.
