what is a descent starting point for stock and 19t pinion and spur. it does have the stock trans
only asking is that the truck came with motor and battery and the bat gets about 175+ during a few min run

I use a 19/87 combo with a 17t without much issue. This is the 6 gear tranny. For the stealth you should probably use a slightly larger pinion.

any one else would like to know if the 87 is better than going to a 81 and is the rpm trans worth going to a 2.65 vs 2.25 stock

have you tried different batteries?
i dont know much since i'm just starting to use these things and not shelf them, but an 81 seems kinda small to me for a 10t.
i would just use bigger spurs and smaller pinions until it didnt heat up anymore.
the rpm tranny is pretty nice, its higher ratio may help your rig run cooler. i say get one while theyre still available with how things are going lately.

you want to be around an 87, if not taller. depending on how and where you use the truck. an 81 with those tall tires is just too small. especially with a 2.25. it would be better with the lower 2.65 ratio trans. but even with that, it'd still be too small.
the 2.65 will definately get you off the corners better.

i didnt like the 81 when i went from the street tires to the offroad but i lost my 87 so thats why i used the 81, i will get the 87 back on it and get the rpm trans

i currently race my rc-10t based oval truck with a stocker on a short 125 foot oval with a 19-90 pinion spur combination and my motors come off the track after 5 minn. at 95 to 100 degrees according to my temp gauge. i agree that the larger spur really helps turn thoes 4" tires but i am also running 2.3 ratio thorp 64 pitch tranny gears inside. this gives a final drive ratio of 10.89 this is the ideal ratio for my track it peaks out about 2 foot from the turn and is a rocket off the corners.
