Need input to a new Ultima project!

Post by Hcp22 »

Hi guy’s

My latest project is coming to an end son, and I have started to plan for my next project!
This new project involves an Ultima, and new rear trailing A-arms from A&L (the conversion kit for the Ultima). But one important part is missing, and that is the front A-arms in aluminium. I have front A-arms from Hot Trick’s (not the red ones), but I don’t think they will do the “trick”! I think Andy’s did them in aluminium, and a few other manufactures. But this can be difficult to find this NIP or in god working condition! :?

Then I have to investigate plan B …
MR. Ed gave me a suggestion to use A-arms from the Losi JR-x2. Quote “any replacements for those should work well also; just need to ream the holes in the c-carrier and bulkhead for the imperial sized hingepins (1/8"?)” But I think they also can be hard to find.

One thought is to use a different bulkhead…

But I would like to have more suggestions from you other guy’s! :D
Cheers
Lars

It shouldn't be any problems using Ed's idea. Just drill the stock bulkheads, and if the arms are too wide you just use a dremel or similar.
Wasn't there a Dirt Burners lot on ebay at the same time I bought the Hot Trick Ultima stuff, which had some rear and front a-arms in it? Maybe it was for the Optima?
Anyway - If they made a-arms for the Optima, they sure as hell did it for the Ultima as well.
Race Prep did some cool a-arms as well, but I've only seen Optima arms..

Something wrong with those shiny arms I sent you?

I'd sure love to know if there are aftermarket blue alloy control arms to fit the Optima series! I see lots on eBay for other cars that look like the might fit, but trying to get sellers to answer messages asking about specific measurements is like pulling teeth!
Completed projects: CYANide Onroad Optima | Zebra Gold Optima | Barney Optima | OptiMutt RWD Mid
Gallery - Coel's Stalls: Marui Galaxy & Shogun Resto-Mods | FrankenBuff AYK Buffalo | 1987 Buick GNX RC12L3

Do you think it easier to find aluminium A-arms to Losi JR-X2? :?:

Is nothing wrong with the HT A-arms, just a bit flat ...
