Lust got this off the bay and was wondering what version it is. It looks like the top of the bulkheads might have been modified? I dont know anything about yoke's. I know i paid to much but i liked it lol. I will post more pics when i receive the item. any help is appreciated

fairly complete 870c, but they did modify the spine plate and the front and rear bulkheads for some reason. otherwise, it looks stock and not bad.

EDIT.....I can't say for sure, but it does look like they might have modified the arms as well.......hopefully not too bad.

That kinda sucks, How hard is it to come across those parts?

the tops of the rear shock tower were broke/cut off, and they attached the shocks in the wing mount holes.

Well i needed a challenge for the winter, I think i might have found one lol

if they are andy's arms, you are in good shape.

yoke stuff is not super easy to find, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for replacement parts. shock towers come up often, univerals, wheels, bulkheads.

the harder to find stuff individually is the drivetrain: pulleys, diff parts, etc. bulkhead caps center shaft and other doo-dads are very hard to find without them being attached to another car.....

I have found a suitable replacement thrust bearing I think as well as diff rings, and possibly pulleys, but I have to still buy them and try them out. screws are standard metric stuff and can be had in various places.

mrlexan repro's a few bodies that fit it. Someone (I apologize I can't recall who at this second) has or had some belts made.

as far as tires, they are 2.0" so it's the same story as any vintage car. jc racing makes some 2.2" wheels now that are very nice, but need a couple of spacers for the rear axle.

the mag stuff is kinda fragile, rpm made replacements for alot of things(arms, hubs, spindles, rear hubs, bulkheads), and I found that TC5 hubs can be used up front with some work, some kyosho parts also fit there(optima?).

kyosho cvd driveshafts fit, though you will have to search to find out which ones get the job done. this has been posted before, I just can't remember the details.

I also have found that TC5 cvd's would also work if you lengthen the bones, but also use a 6mm shaft so the bearings need to be swapped.

the shocks are known to be poor, so most swap out associated shocks. .56" up front, 1.02" out back.

the original yr4 uses the same type of drivetrain, just shorter arms, so there is another source for parts, though they are also tough to find.

you can find upper braces, there were a few manufacturers, but if you already have the spine plate, you are fine there.

traxxas rod ends fit on the ball joints, so if you have cups that are broken or worn, you can use those as replacement parts.

I think it is a YR-4 shocktower that's used as a replacement for a broken 870C one

Congrats on the win. Should turn out to be a nice car after you get done with it.

mounting rear shocks to wing mounts is common when the old mounts are broken. Have done this myself in the past.
if you want a new rear shock mount let me know as i have one NIP and it wont cost you all your possesions

front shocks seem to have rear springs on them too, andy's lower arms butchered bulk head covers are so bits dont get stuck and tear the belts to shreds.

Should look good after a strip and clean
