chalky finish after redying old dyed parts

Hey all, i just redyed some plastic parts black with some Rit liquid dye. They came out kinda chalky, any advice for cleaning them up a bit? I searched the forums for some time but didn't find anything regarding fixing bad dye jobs.

I recently re-dyed some black parts with the RIT powder and they turned out fine. I'm not sure what caused it, but I'd try boiling them in some clear water. Couldn't hurt.

Hey guys I just purchased a short arm 6 gear car and it has all the plastic dyed blue. Is there anyway to reverse the dye effect,bleach,peroxide,etc.?? Or do I just need to dye all the stuff black? Not building a shelf queen but a runner but...

Once the plastic is dyed, it's not reversible. It can be lightened a bit but your best bet is to dye it darker or black.

Does anybody know a way to re-white dyed plastic parts?
Black seems to me not possible, but what about the lighter colours like yellow, orange, etc...? Any suggestions :?:

Can parts dyed black be bleached back to white?
I've got a set of nice black dyed white long arms, can they be brought back to a white? Or am I SOL?

I bought a project car specifically because I wanted a wreck to work with. It was a white part rc10t that was dyed black and the dye has faded over time.

There is a lot of information here on people who tried it, unfortunately many of the picture...

I don't know if it works to remove dye, but if anyone has ABS plastic bits that have yellowed or browned with age, the hair salon bath/ultraviolet light trick works very well.

Using peroxide and UV doesn't work for reducing dye. it does make...

I have some dyed wheels and want to removed the tyres that have been superglued on. My usual method is to leave them in Acetone for 24hrs, but was wondering as these wheels were dyed, will the acetone affect the dye.

I think it's a ZX-r
but I`m only basing that really on the body.
