First post and of course questions!!

Post by dirtgypsy »

Hey all. Stumbled onto your site after trying to research a car I just bought. It is an early stylr RC10 with Hot Trick chassis and maybe Andy's arms? Also it has some sort of aftermarket slipper clutch. I have a second car that I had been trying to restore but after seeing the prices for replacment chassis' I kind of gave up.

Here is the new car:

After buying it I was thinking it would be nice to build it up as a shelf queen or sell it.

My question is this> Is it "period correct" or "more desireble" to keep the car as is? Or tear it down and put the older style short arms and all new parts on the Hot Trick Chassis? The only item I do not have that is new are the shocks but the ones on this car are in pretty nice shape.

Anyways long winded first post but I hope you all understand!

thanks for the help,

clint

The original 6 gear transmission, there was no slipper clutch. The spur gear is actually the diff for the car.

As far as restoring, if the chassis is in decent shape or worth saving, strip the chassis down and have it powdercoated. It is relatively cheap compared to a new chassis (I had mine done for $25).

As far as going period correct or not..up to you. Value on any vintage item depends on the buyer, you get a buyer that wants what you have, they may be willing to pay for it...its always a roll of the dice.

My thoughts...clean this one up, clean up the other one, put some fresh batteries in them and run them!!!

thanks for the reply. I just put it up on ebay. Just no time or energy to do more research on the car. maybe I can get enough $$ to get a new chassis for my other one!
