I've heard 1000wt geared diff oil is the stuff to go for.... but that was something I read on another forum, i.e I haven't tried it myself :|

I might give the Hydra another go on my CR2 - back when we ran the first edition XXs we all junked our leaky hydradrives in favour for the simpler (& less messy) friction set-up.... now everyone wants them again :D

As far as leaks, this may be a dumb question, but have you tried putting a light coat of Silicone lube on the seals? Back when I had my Pro, I would put a bit of the silicone on the O-rings and seals, just enough to help seal, not too much to impair the "Impeller" of the Hydra Drive. You can find it at the hardware store, I got mine from lowes, I think it was called "Silicone Plumbers Lube". I use it now when rebuilding my shocks and 1:8 diffs.

Just a shot in the dark here.
