brushed motors/tunning

when i used to run/bash/and race my dad did all my tunning and he dosent have his big book of rc math anymore and doesnt remember how to figure it all out so i have a few qauestions

1)how do u determine the turns of an old brushed motor???

2)what is the math equation to figure out what gears to use???

3)how do i figure out what size tires i need to run???

btw hows the vintage scene in the stl these days im actually from the illinois side of the river but havent ran there in about 10 years now im stationed in nc just curious...

last season I saw 4 or 5 guys run team cars at least once :D so far the oldest losi I have seen was a xxt. local fast guy Rod Rippee ran a team car in stock and set a track record for that class!
