I have a number of RC10s from the late eighties.

All of my electronics still work with the exception of the ESCs. I have a Novak T1 and a Novak T4 that seem to be broken.

I have NICADS that I charge with a victor engineering charger and the old Futaba servos, receiver and transmitter seem to be working correctly.

I was thinking about setting one up with brushless and lipos.

Would this Novak Havoc be a decent ESC to play with now and use with brushless and lipo later on? Would it work with nicads or only nimh and lipo?

Oh, I also have a brand new motor. Some kind of 19 turn brushed Trinity chameleon or something like that.

for a few dollars more you can get a whole brushless setup from tower.

the castle system is probably pretty wild, but I don't know enough about them.

I've been kicking around picking up a brushless setup, I was planning to pick up a take-out traxxas system from ebay for hopefully less than a hundred.....

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I'm looking for something I can get now that will work with my brushed motor and nicad batteries now. I might move to lipo and brushless if I am still having fun. In addition, I have a few more brushed motors in other cars so it would be nice to do an easy swap of the ESC.

After doing a bit more reading, it appears the Havoc only works with Novak brushed motors.

I am assuming that an ESC that can handle nimh can also handle nicad.

I would post a ad in the wanted section you should be abel to pick up a nice brushed esc like a tekin g11, lrp quanum or novak gt7 for $25 or so.

also all the brushless sets posted above except the associated can run brushed or brushless.

Just my opinion and anyone can argue if they choose. The Traxxas brushless combo would actually be my preference because it is slower. I’m just talking the best bargains here. IMHO

A Castle Creations Sidewinder can handle brushed motors, Nicads, lipos, and of course brush-less.

The havoc does brushed but only down to 27t race stock. Had traxxas setup, motors are awesome but speedy bit big and very crude no adjustment at all fine for bashing or racing on extremely high grip surfaces.
