What material to make a body mold with?
Forgive me if this has been discussed, I went through about 20 pages and didn't find much. I just picked up a nip traxxas sledgehammer body that I would kinda like to make a mold from. I have new built minus body hammer, as well as a buddy has a few, plus I think it is just a pretty scale looking neat body. Most the hammers had the bodies made from some rubbery plastic that didn't stand time. Mcallister said they would be happy to pull them if I could send them a mold, but he didn't have time to mess with making one. He really didn't want to let me in on the trade secret of what material to use, but gave me a hint that it would be two part, and I may or may not screw up the og body. What kind of material should I use, or who could I send it to that may be better at making the mold and not killing the og body. Thanks ahead for the help.

Re: What material to make a body mold with?
most molds are alumimum or a urethane based molds, neither are suitable for inexpensive mold making.
i have seen plaster molds work well, but not normal plaster, stuff like a Hydrostone Super X material, like cement.
expoxy based molds are probably best bet but will damage body most likely

Smooth On has a ton of different epoxies. From what I know, the body guys use a aluminum impregnated epoxy.
