tape and paint Early RC10

Post by rctenracer »

Trying to do the paint job in the RC10 manual. Wing one I tried liqiud mask but my skills with the x-acto blade are not there yet. So wing two with tape. Still did not get it quite right . I should have carried the color out more to the side but will have to live with it for know. Hope mr lexan has wing three in stock  . still have to test my skills on the body.

I agree the paint masks are the way to go, or liqiud mask for that matter. Just not that good with the x-acto blade yet. I did mange to get the bottom half done using tape. I am just cutting the tape out on a cutting board and fitting it to the body. So far I have about 3 hrs into it.

That's the ONLY way these were done back then—by hand.

vinyl cutters have been around since the late 70's early 80's, i remember seeing paint masks advertised back in old flying magazines in early 80's cut on a vinyl cutter, so its a possbility either way whether they were or not... by hand is impressive though

Looking good, rctenracer - the paint and the car. You are a braver man than I with the painting. I ended up sending mine to one of our local paint pros.

Are those Pargu's alloy wheel caps on your car?
