Composite Craft Worlds Car build

Post by transamman908 »

Hello Everyone! Well its been in my collection long enough and i couldn't look at it unbuilt any longer. This did however take me the longest of any other project to locate the needed parts but was well worth the wait. This is what i have done so far. I'm in the process of mounting the top plate but need to remove the rear tower and trim the bottom as i do not want to alter the top plate by cutting to length as it's a bit long. More pics to come.....

Sweet looking buggy so far. Planning to keep everything white or are you going to dye? I agree with you in that the parts are hard to source. Like yours mine took a long time to find all the parts and I had a head start on many of them

where did you find the chassis and top deck NIP? I have been looking for one for what seems like ever. I would give my right and left XXX for one! If anyone can please help me out with finding one i will owe you the world!!! I have all the other hard to find RPM bits NIP waiting to get bolted up. Its my dream to have this car in mint condition. I just received cmain's car in the mail and its nice but not perfect like I want it. I'll clean up cmains and it should look good when dune. I'll post progress,

As for your car trans, Im sure it will be awsome when its done! Can't wait to see it done! If you ever sell it look me up!

Thanks! I will keep the parts white as i always tend to stay away from dying parts and think the white makes it stand out. I found the chassis hanging on a hook in a hobby shop I stopped at while traveling home from work. It was the first item on the hook covered up by 12 or so newer traxxas body sets and other items. I had been to that shop a dozen times in the past but always missed it. It has been about 5 years and has sinced closed down like alot of the older shops.

Awesome looking build Ed. I agree, keep the parts white. They definitely stand out against the chassis. Nice find on the chassis by the way. Doesn't really happen any more but a few years ago you could actually find stuff like this just sitting on the shelf.

Simply beautiful! Like everyone else I would love to have a car like this in the collection. And finding the chassis set just hanging in a shop for years...priceless!

Enjoy the build, there's nothing like tearing open brand new parts 8)

Me TOO!!

I designed that chassis and I don't even have this particular one. LOL!!!!

Nice build, looks clean and will run spectacular. I remember testing this car at a local indoor track during development.

Wow doesn't even do it justice.
Back then, surrounded all the time by carbon fiber chassis and parts, it's like having a lot of paperwork on your desk...just another paper. Now, after being away from the composites side of the industry for so long, I yearn for it again.

What steering system are you going to use? Looks great so far, a dream build.

Thanks everyone! This is a very fun build indeed. I thought about some hg shock bodys but couldn't get/find any. I will be going with the basic rpm steering kit that rpm recomends in the instructions for the worlds front end kit for now. I have a mip steering setup in the first pic which i was leaning towards but i may go with the rpm. I also have a losi alum. setup or houge setup as well. Now i'm on the fence with which steering setups.......

Don't do this to me Ruffy!
I think im about to cry LOL! I thought you might be my last chance at finding one. Figures the only AE/CC part in existence that you don't have is the one I need the most! I sure know how to pick which replicas I want to build

So my next question is, How would CC feel about remakes of the old chassis? I don't mean them (CC) doing them. Say I find a group of people interested in the project. Members of the group would put money towards the development, molds etc and turn out X numbers of copies much like what is going on with the Lexan bodies or arm mounts, other parts, etc? I still don't understand how lexan repos are popping up all over the place and no one seems to care. Don't get me wrong, I think its great! I just see it in other industries and its a huge no no. GT bicycles just put the hammer down on a guy that was reproducing stickers for freestyle bikes of the '80s.

I have some resources for this type of project but couldn't do any kind of volume on my own. I have some material in the works from a member here (HINT HINT!!!. I WILL make my own but I would also like to help others too.
