Stealth Question

Hey folks.

My stealth tranny came in the mail. Yippee. :D

It didn't come with any spur gear/spring/slipper etc... Basically, just the tranny, original felt and motor plate.

There's a few options out there that I've read about on these forums but not sure which to go with.

Can someone make a recommendation for me please, including links or part numbers so I can purchase the parts and start using the tranny. Thanks in advance.

If you are planning to use the trans in a runner, you could adapt the modern rc10b4 slipper to work
Parts list needed is in here:
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=10403

The b-3 slipper parts will work as a direct replacement for the original as there was only a minor change in the slipper pad and plates between the 2 versions.
you need one each of:

3/16x3/8" bearing
and 2 4-40x3/16" buton head screws.

Alternatively you could just bolt a spur gear to the top shaft with a slipper eliminator like this one:

(the eliminator is popular for oval racing)

Thanks aconsola. Where in the "what's old is new" thread did you see the B4 setup? I looked and couldn't really find anything specific. Would I need to change the top shaft for the B4 set up?

I don't want to eliminate the slipper because I'm running brushless and don't want to risk damaging the internals.

Thanks again.

Yep, did a little more searching. Found what I needed. Going to go with the B4 setup. Can't wait to get the parts in. Thanks for the help.

Has anyone successfully done the B4/T4 slipper on an RPM converted stealth? Looking briefly through the archives, it doesn't seem like it. I understand the RPM top shaft is shorter, but maybe a shorter spring could be used? Does anyone who has both shafts know the difference in length? Are there any other obstacles to doing this? I'm sure a significant amount of adjustment fidelity would be lost, but depending on the delta length, it might be worth it.

the only way you could do it would be to press the gear off both the b4 and rpm top shaft, and re-install the gear for the rpm top shaft on to the b4 top shaft.

i was told awhile back (i forget who...) when i was putting together the stinky pinky that an rpm topshaft for a hyperdrive could possibly work with a b4 style slipper.

So there was a hyper-drive top shaft for the RPM trans?

hydra-drive...... yes. you could get an rpm 2.65 conversion kit with the slipper shaft or the hydra shaft. you could buy them individually, too.

So what slipper are you running with your RPM trans?

RPM did have a Hydra-Drive top shaft for their transmission but they're pretty hard to find now.

the one from the 2.25 stealth or the one from the 2.40.(b2, b3, t3).
