Scott Taylors old Pro 2 SC-T3

Scott won countless races and beat pro 4 class trucks with this truck. I hope I have the same luck racing my SC-T3 and SC10 with his old colors.

I cant tell you how many times i've been drunk in that bar in the picture! Those were the good ol days. I don't drink anymore. Thats Ducks bar in Crandon WI.

A little info on that picture. Every labor day weekend is the World championship off road races in Crandon. (In the early days it was called the Brush Run 101) On the Friday before race day all the teams are invited to drive their race vehicles from the track down to main street (about a 3-4 mile drive down the highway) and line the trucks up and down both sides of the street where race fans can get up close to the trucks and chat with the drivers. Its much like what they do in Baja before the race. They shut down the entire road and it is solid fans and trucks/buggies as far as you can see! Its really cool! On the way to town there is a police escort so speeds are rather low but on the way back to the track.....balls to the wall! I thought my truck was fast on the track. I couldn't believe how fast it was when it hooked up on the pavement!!!

That's awesome! Great story man. I found that pic when I was searching for pics to help lay out my paint job. I didn't even notice it was parked in front of a bar. Id love to make it to Crandon one day. Thanks for the post.

I bet that Losi Desert truck front bumper would look great on that truck. I've got a modified one on my T3 chassis'd B2. Super easy mod, just drilled 2 extra holes in the bumper. Not sure how durable it would be, I just added it to mine for a scale look.

It looks a lot like the real deal.

That bumper looks good cool. I came up with a way to extend the stock SC10 bumper. I used the same connectors I used on the body mounts.[

I only made it to the 1992 "Brush Run 101". If I recall correctly a local racer named Jack Flannery took the Pro 2wd & Pro 4wd titles that year. He drove a white Chevy with a pink/black lightening bolt down the side and was sponsered by Armstrong tires. There was also some guy named Walker Evans driving the Barbary Coast Dodge and a Mears driving a Nissan in the mini class. Don't remember much after that except the last race of the day was a street legal vehicle race. There were old beater cars and trucks hitting the track for a couple of laps. Green Ford Ranchero was the winner in that one, I think. Good times.

You have a great memory! Jack was very hard to beat back in the day. He started out racing Fords then got the big factory sponsor from Chevy. His kid is a hell of a driver too. He raced in this years race after a long absence from the sport. He got wrecked and when he did the after race TV speech he said the greatest thing I ever herd. He said "Back in the day it was the drivers with the most talent in the pro classes, now its the guys with the most money and no talent." I couldn't agree more!
Unfortunatly Jack has been very sick for the last couple years and is not expected to be with us for much longer. He will be missed!

LOL, I got my start in those beat up cars! It was called the "Good Ol Boys" class. It was kinda a run what ya brung class. Only rules were the cars must remain stock and you had to have a cage, 5 points, and a fuel cell. I wish they still had it. I was one of the best races to watch of the weekend!

Its sad to hear that Jack Flannery is sick. He seemed down to earth and stayed to sign autographs until there was no one left in line. I think his son was named Jeb and was just starting out racing. The Flannery's ran a transmission shop too, right?

I still have my pictures of the race (although some just show the track as its hard to time a truck speeding at you at 100 mph), poster of the "Brush Run 101" and autographed Flannery Racing T-shirt.

He is right, as many off-road racers today are privateers with healthy bank accounts, but this is true in every form of motorsport these days. Look at the backgrounds of racers at every level; you have high school teammates of Tiger Woods, heirs to medical company fortunes, sons of champion race drivers, etc.

Of course Jack was one of the first factory-backed short course drivers, and his Class 4 Chevy (white with blue hood and red lightning bolt on the side) was almost unbeatable for a couple of seasons. Once the ESPN coverage expanded, to cover the whole season instead of just the spring and fall races, sponsorship money increased and the other drivers caught up. When Jack switched to Chevrolet he drove the Class 8 truck of another driver, the black Parsons-sponsored truck, until his Class 8 was built. One of his sons then took over the Parsons truck, and then that son took over the factory truck and another son took over the Parsons truck. I have most of these races on tape, I've just been meaning to transfer them to DVD for some time now.

Nice paint job. I see things like this and can't help but to think how small the world is some times. I remember back in highschool getting so excited to see the Taylors race truck on the trailer everytime they would pick up George before a race. Its funny to see how things have evolved over the years. I can't beleive it's taken this long for the R/C manufacturers to start making cool realistic looking off road trucks. Now I just wish we had a local place to race them.
