Can the old stuff handle the new power?
Can the old stuff handle the new power?
I an building a few runners (RC10 and T ) I am wondering if the older stealth trans can handle the power of 8.5 brushless and 7.4 lipo? if not what do you recommend upgrading?

Yes, a few guys on here run brushless w/ stealths w/ no problems. Don't think it would work well on 6 gears.

Yea I read a few threads and they all seem to recommend the B4 slipper which makes good sense but i am worried about the diff. If I break a part the track will probably not have it on the shelf... there goes my race day.

for sure run the slipper. Running dirt oval with high grip and foams we can slip the diffs with 10.5 motors no problem. Personally I run without a slipper and just pay attention to how I'm driving to avoid tearing up parts.

Probably wont want to go any faster than 8.5, I kept blowing idler gears in my RC10T every 2nd race meet running 3 and 5.5 turn motors

Re: Can the old stuff handle the new power?
I raced an RC10 with a 5.5 at the Belgium GP. If you watch the slipper the Idler should be OK, didn't even bother to put on a B4 slipper. The only problem I had is that I had to rebuild the diff 2 times a day

Genius by ignorance
Re: Can the old stuff handle the new power?
Yeah I think it's just the extra weight of the truck and the bigger tyres that kill it. Probably ok in a buggy.
Running a stealth with 5.5 in the B34 with the power for all 4 wheels going from the top shaft to the rear idler and it hasn't blown a single idler yet..
B4 slipper is almost as annoying as a 6-gear when it comes time to change a spur gear
B3 one seems to work ok for me.

Re: Can the old stuff handle the new power?
I am glad to hear all the feed back. I will try to get it reliable as possible. It sounds like someone really needs to come up with a case to run the B4 gears and be able to bolt it to to tub and motor plate.
