When I got back into the hobby three years ago all I had was 1200 packs so I tried Tenergy (all-battery.com). I had great luck with their 3500 packs and their universal smart charger worked OK (I still use it as a backup when out with the kids for their 2300 nicd packs).
SOOOO then I bought some 3800s (about 18months ago) and they are lousy! The lead wires were thin and the packs just didn't cycle well at all. I had 6 and three have already gone to the trash (recycled!).
I have also bought some of the Tenergy cells and made my own packs with decent wire-- and those are ok for the money.
That's my experience and I changed my motto to 'you get what you pay for' after those batteries.
The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

I was looking at a bundle that included the charger and 2 batteries for about $60.00.

Would it be possible to charge Nimh with an old Nicd charger? I have read it is possible, but you need to keep an eye on the temperature of the battery.

Thanks,

ED

I have had about 12 Tenergy packs most have which either exlpoded at one time or just overheated. In this case you get what you pay for. I have a couple 3800 packs that have lasted about two years now that I run in my Clodbuster just using the low draw silver can 540 motors. In my brushless and modified brushed setups the Tenergy batteries will heat up fast and not last long in these types of situations.
