Hey guys I just signed up and I am impressed with the collections some of you have. I just picked up a RTR MR4-BC off of Ebay for $129.00 (still waiting for the buggy to arrive). I have been looking up and down on the internet about this buggy but have come up empty handed. Is there any where I can go to learn more about the buggy? I appreciate any help you guys can provide. When the buggy arrives I can post pics if you guys wish.

These are real fun cars: the shorter wheelbase makes them very lively and perfect for backyard and smaller club tracks.
They are somewhat low-cost versions of the MX-4 but are very strong and work well. Just make sure to replace the bushings at the wheels by bearings: you don't want to wear the axles as they'd be far more costly to replace than a set of 8 ball-bearings.

Thanks for the tip Mr Ed. I am working on stripping the body right now, man this thing is tough. I am surprised that the car has bushings in it, but I can understand since it seems to be an entry level buggy. I will definately put some bearings in the wheels. I hooked one of my Lipo packs to the car to see if it was operational and it runs fantastic. Got good acceleration and speed. I just may have to enter into the modified 4wd class at the local track soon. Any other tips or help on the car would definately be appreciated.

I have one in bits in my attic, i have never run it though. Mr Ed is pretty spot on with the comparison with the MX 4. The suspension and drive train are the same except for the shorter wheel base (i think the diff out drives are different), as the chassis was based on the MR4 TC (boring car). You can get a LWB conversion and a slipper for it and you could probably run newer alloy shocks, maybe first gen MR4 BX, the latter world spec ran longer shafts. Another upgrade would to replace the rear dogs with uj's.

oh yes, I would like that slipper
My MX-4 has the original slipper, but that requires a special hard to replace spur
Different diff outdrives... that would explain why I couldn't get the UJ's and dogbones of the MR4BC onto my MX4.
The MX-4 cvd's use only M3 nuts which look so fragile. so I wanted to put the MR4bc parts but then the suspension wouldn't go far enough up anymore

For your info Mr ED the part number for the slipper set is ZS670, but i am not 100% that will fit on the MX4 but it can still be had for around £50, pricey....

Wow, thanks for posting the link to that site. Looks like some good info there. Now another question, where in the world would I find a new body for the car? The stripping is much more difficult than what I originally thought. I have the body about 50% done and so far everything is still clear. The green paint is super tough and is not breaking loose like the blue did. I have searched up and down and have yet to find a place that has a body in stock. Most places I have found that have parts appear to be in Eropean countries. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for the help thus far.

There is a nip body in the BST area for sale from Triniboy. You won't have access but you could try to PM him.

quite a few readily available bodies should fit this car easily: tamiya plazma edge and baldre are 2 I've test-fitted and look promissing.
The chassis layout is very similar to many many later cars, so their body's fit with little trouble

Apparently the B44 is a good fit, quite cheap and easy to get hold of in the States
