Fired up my RC10....1st time in 16 yrs....
Fired up my RC10....1st time in 16 yrs....
Hello!...for the 1st time in 16 yrs, I charged up my old RC10...yes, the battery charged!!...I haven't used it since I was in college..and if I remember correctly, I held the record for the number of fraternity pledges I could jump...the record was 11...I am also looking for a new servo saver for my RC10, part#6255 or something that will work.....I am surprised I cannot find parts for this...I would really love to restore the car..thanks advance, this seems like a great forum!!!

about 4 years ago, i walked into a hobby store in southern california (i was about 15 then) and bought those steering pieces in a pack (right and left bell cranks), they are the new black ones made by associated. The hobby store had them in stock, brand spankin new for under $8 so i immagine they are still readily available. I would recommend www.towerhobbies.com
However, if you dont like spending money or like modding, you can chop up a new one with a dremel and file, and use a spacer to get the right height.

batterys are a difficult subject- heres wat i have noticed/ learned along the way
- if you want long runs, get one over 3000ma
-I would recommend nimh because they can be charged whenever, recommended complete discharge once/month or every 5 charges, good life- thousands of runs, they dont get too hot if you let the car rest every 5-15min, and they aren't too much in the co$t.
-nicads have the longest life, most of the vintage ones still power on if they weren't abused, but must be discharged after every charge, otherwise memory bridge is formed--my gramps had away of destroying the memory bridge in nicad cells, i think he hooked each cell up to 12v+&- and then hit the - side with a hammer till it made a popping noise/spark jump
-lithium is the best, top of the line- if you wanna do it right/ race, but requires a special charger and lots of $$
