Some more goodies to go on the car soon - Titanium nitrided hinge pins and some different rear graphite wishbones - the current ones I have on there are VLA so I wanted to swap them out for some older original items:

But I scored this shell this week - a brand new Jammin one! Will try and get it painted up soon, but other commitments are gonna get in the way for a while, plus I've got some exciting XXT stuff to do!

Thanks for the comment, funny how the shell is only three colours but still manages to look good, but thats the whole point. Less can be more at times, its just how you select the colours etc. The other good thing is that its not that much different from the Kinwald paint from all those years ago...

Sure. You know you have the skills to pull it off.

The wheel-plus-disc leaves a thin stripe all the way around the rim, the stripe being the color of the underlying wheel. If you decide to do something other than the scheme you have for the black / white / fluorescent yellow body, consider using a two-tone stripe element somewhere in the body, with one of the stripes matching the width and color of the stripe on the wheel ...

Those XX Losi rims are iconic. Like the original JRX2 5 spokes, the XX 5-spokes (love/hate), the JRXT 3-piece rims, the original JRX2 shell covering the shocks ... Losi came up with some very cool trademark design elements ...

yeah, agreed, which is why I want them on the car...I would also like to try the 'hard body' stickers that went on the shocks, does anybody have these?

Jamin - you have fine taste & a man after my own heart! I love this era of Losi... these were the cars I raced when I started to get serious about the hobby. Also the upgrades that you've fitted I either had or desired

The colour scheme as you say isn't particularly complicated but its really effective & well executed, it looks good too on the original XX shell giving your late XX an early car twist!

P.S; I think I might have those 'Hard Body' stickers somewhere... just not too sure if I still have a full compliment for each shock I'll have a look later & PM you....

Cheers Dan! Thanks for the kind comments, I am really happy with the build, gonna throw the new parts on tonite since the wife is out! I've tried not to fit too many aftermarket parts, I think the car looks worse with too many blue bits etc.

I gotta get the jammin shell painted up soon also, that will add another twist! I too loved the XX, in fact all Losi's. I'll never forget watching them at the worlds in Basildon, I was hooked there and then.

Did you ever race these at any nationals? I did from about 1994 ish onwards, I even raced at the Euros in Barcelona in 1997! Qualified 36th with my trusty steed! I failed to start the final because another driver was on my frequency (and lied that he was on a different one) - turns out it was a british driver too!

If you have the stickers that would be cool, I think it might work, got to try it out at least....

Ok, so I fitted the titanium nitrided hinge pins and the older style (but still new!) rear wishbones tonight, also took the opportunity to take some close up pics, just to show off the lovely new-ness of it all!
That'll do for now, although I do have some newer 'green' style anodising shock bodies to come...when they arrive

How did you manage to build those turnbuckles without gouging up the ball cups? I know that a ball cup driver can simplify things, but those ball cups look round in cross-section.

Do you just tape up a pair of pliers to grip the ball cups or do you have some other trick? They look great.

The trick is not to grip the round part of the ball cup, but the cup itself where there is a flat section. This will enable you to stop it from twisting with less force required on the pliers. Taping the pliers or using a pair that has no teeth (my wife has some for her jewellery making - but dont tell her I used them ) is even better.

I've been looking for a toothless pliers but have been unable to find one ... I guess a trip to the craft store is in order.
