Well today I decided that it was time to hit the track for a little shakedown run, but I have spent a
bunch of time stripping the chassis, milling ect. that it seemed like I was going to have a ton to go through again once I got it dialed in ( at least as far as aluminum re-prep ) So I decided to take the suspension off this car and build a "technicolor vomit" ((tm Temple of speed)) test car I ran about 6 packs through it on a 100 deg day ( our test track is at our house ) and the only real thing I had to do was add some pre-load in the front shocks as the car always wanted to jump very nose heavy, after that a little tuning as a driver to eliminate the on power tight situation I was passing my track mate on the outside(tabletop w/off-camber downhill right & SC10 ) but the car was super responsive and very easy to move around the track, taking as many different lines and or approaches as I could come up with . I do need to add a front "bumper" for those nose in's though, maybe not scrub as much then


Oh, also I put the machined stock rear hubs through a pretty rough time as I got re-aquainted with a 2wd buggy ( these things tumble like winged sprints when you time something wrong ) but I was not sure I had tested them properly--so I handed the car over to my 5 year old and let him run a few packs No breakage

Well, I am going to see this car through even though I am helping Jay move so I can go to the nats as a homage' to Jeff's cars

So while I had the chance I machined the rear hubs I machined the inside of the hubs with a 3/8" flat end mill to get the bearing depth correct, then a 5/8" 4 flute 45 deg bit to finish the cut for the flange of the cvd/cva to clear, then redrill the hinge pin hole to 1/8", then ream with a .002 oversize ream.

Here is where I am at so far, all the suspension and set-ups were tested using the other chassis and parts minus the suspension, the Racers edge hubs are mounted and spaced and she will be raced against B4's and RB5's next wed- I'll have a donor RCPS Turbo Mirage on it for that race-

Slicked off tires at that track are worth almost 2 laps I am trying a few compounds, we'll see

Reg....I'm working on a goldie into racer, getting very close to the part where I would need to do the rear hub carrier "trick"...but I'm too cheap to use the Racers Edge hubs...Do you think I could get away with (gasp!!) using Losi XXXCR rear plastic hubs for this mod?

My plan is to mill out a set of B44 rear hubs and use rear B44 CVAs with my RPM Tean Car arms and stealth trans.
