A chassis is in the works as well. Here is where I am at thus far. Still have some work left to do on the upper brace and chassis.

I was unhappy with the way the body would sit on the car with the upper brace installed on top of the factory bulkhead caps. I decided to mill some new bulkhead caps which would allow the body to fit correctly on the car.

I wanted to mill the caps out of nylon but I didn't have the material. I went ahead and milled a front and rear cap out of 6160 aluminum. I did as much lightening as I could. They turned out great. A new upper brace will need to be made because I will also be incorporating the cap for the spur shaft on the brace as well. With this setup, the body will fit just as it should.

This was alot of work for just getting the body to fit, but it also adds alot to the car. There is no doubt anyone familiar with 870c's will see all the different parts on this car when it is done. I the raw aluminum is too much bling for my tastes and will be getting anodized black.

Enjoy the pics. I hope to have more done soon.

Jake

Yes the black will be the way to go on all the aluminum bits for the car. There are still a ton of things to do. I wish I could drive the thing already.

These caps are similar to the standard ole 870c caps. I have no idea if they would fit on anything else just because I am unfamiliar with any of the other Yokes out there.

Awesome work. This kind of car-building is real "old-school" stuff to me. Self made parts to make car work better or make it stronger etc.

I started working on an aluminum motor mount for the car since I want to anodize the bits black. Progress is moving forward but I am convinced I can find a motor mount that has already been made.

Will this YR4 motor mount work in my car?

http://cgi.ebay.com/GPM-Racing-YR38-YR4-CENTER-GEARBOX-PLATE-ALUMINUM-/280615238989?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4155f8bd4d

If not what do I need to look for? I know they are out there. Any help in this would be appreciated.

Jake
