Re: Optima is back!!
Just an interesting note.....the mounting holes (middle) on a B5M wing match perfectly with the front of an Optima. Problen is, you can't get the top off the front. But if you just keep the one battery in the car like I do, it's not so much of an issue.

I will say though, that this thing will wheelie like no other car I own. Probably due to the short wheelbase and 9T motor.

Re: Optima is back!!
I painted mine and put the stickers on last night. It is a little tricky and a spray bottle and soap help to reposition. I had no air bubbles last night but some developed overnight. It looks good though. The yellow at the back was the trickiest. I used white spray plasti-dip so I can peel it all off and start over and paint all the colors later if I want to. It was an experiment, but a successful one. I put on the coats too thick, and it ran, and it got under the window masks, but I just peeled that off. Next up will be electronics, going to go brushless and Lipo of course.

Haha yeah I bet. I put a 3500kv (close to 12T) brushless in my original Optima and it wheelies like crazy. Very controllable overall but silly if you want it to be.yellowdatsun wrote:I will say though, that this thing will wheelie like no other car I own. Probably due to the short wheelbase and 9T motor.
Have fun and I'm glad to see you're out there beating on it. (I realize you also have a shelf toy)
Mine will be a runner here soon. Just have some other things on my plate to finish up first.

Banzai is always good with prices, I am getting those shocks no matter what, but certainly not paying $80! In a few months it will surely drop but banzai will always be cheaper, buying more stuff will offset the high shipping cost.
These shocks like I said look like the CBs, many may not know but the CBs were iconic and number one high performance part on any gas or electric, all SRBs had them, I am sure these will have the same effect, I am also contemplating that the CB bottom cap through which the shaft passes will have the same thread so those can be used with the re re shock bodies, unless new, CB bodies are either scratches, ano faded etc. these are cheaper than having the cbs re anodized.
These shocks have one thing I love, same goes for the scorp shocks, they have a plastic sleeve through which the shaft slides, smooth operation and hardly any wear as a result

With the 9T motor, mine is NOT controllable when it wheelies more than an inch. It gets speed wobbles, and then cartwheels down the track.

Shocks from the land jump 1/8 scale era
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

They look nice.
Separate question, what's the trick with using soap to position stickers, which spray do you need to use and will it work on all stickers?

It's just glass cleaner. Spray a little on the body then apply the decal, move around if needed and squeeze out the excess cleaner.

Re: Optima is back!!
I ran my batteries front to back (5) and hung one off each side. I tried different placement of the two side batteries until I got the car to jump better.
Re: Optima is back!!
banazi has the red shocks in stock, pretty reasonable prices, they are even selling the shock body and bottom cap as well, wow, only banzai can break it up like that and sell them for so cheap!

Still need to be sure if these are size of CBs and whether the bottom cap is interchangeable, the aluminum collars of the CBs , if they fit would look super, hopefully kyosho will make aluminum collars, but guess not

Re: Optima is back!!
Also the shock has plastic top sleeves that are actually rounded, a ball-joint setup, how cool!!! LOVE IT, now they can be articulated with ease!
