Sorry about the OT addition here ... but I recalled @silvertriple 3D printed chain guide & was wondering if you or anyone you know of has printed any gears for any of the Kyosho 1/12 series cars. I've been hunting around for a Diff Gear Set (EF-20) for my Plazma MKII restoration project, but I'm not very optimistic about my chances of finding one. I think 3D printed option would be the only shot I'm going to have to finish this one.
Thank you

Looking at Fantom and Plazma re-release, both are using the same shaft (EF-209) and diff set (EF-202). I have no clue about the differences with the original shafts and diff set. From the documentation, it looks similar, but that's the only thing I can say about that. And the diff set I got printed for my EF-209 special project is not tested in real yet (and was with the EF-209 shaft in mind)...

Yeah...guess you gotta pick your poison...couldn't re-release that car with the old school transmission & think about running modern electronics...though this is one case where I'd have liked to see just a little more 'modernization' & protect it a little better.. I complain about it all over the place, but that exposed gear set is a big reason why most of my vintage 1/12 cars stay on the shelf...PTSD from all the pebble-related stripped gears. My friends & I would scour the city for suitable "Plazma surface" & would even go out in the middle of the night to use a freshly paved road when there wasn't any traffic. I suppose I will wind up using the newer setup & compromise the goal of 100% stock form for the ability to run it (someplace). Even if I found one in some random Tokyo hobby shop that's been frozen in time... I'd still be too much of a wimp to risk it, so 3D print or use the modern setup. I just hope Kyosho will keep spare parts in stock long enough not to have the same problem in 6 months

Back to the OT .. I was just diving through my storage closet to see if I could find a bag of old Plazma parts that might have some extra gears & came across this ... man this car is gorgeous ...
On some level I feel like this one should stay in the box ... I don't think I've ever said that before. I have a bunch of vintage cars that are NIB, but I haven't built them only because I have too many projects & not enough time. I'll probably build it lol ... I don't think I'd drive it though when I have 2 runners (original + re-re) and an original as a shelfer..
