Glad to see everything coming along nicely!!!
Can't seem to crack the MK1 plate or XL chassis yet though.

Re: Losi XXT CR Graphite Plus - Re-Rebuild
LOVE that new truck! Get one of those Jammin braces on there - to match the shiny plate out back!!! (and dye that front bulkhead).
The straight milled motor plates are hard to come by, I've only seen a couple in the years I have been rebuilding these cars, but be patient and keep your eyes open.
Also, whilst talking about 'Jammin' Jay Halsey (but going a little off topic), he is also the inspiration for my username - my first name being 'Benjamin' and so by removing 'Ben' you end up with 'jamin' but with one 'm'. Back when I was a kid I thought it was kinda

I used to paint shells for people BITD and would always sign them 'jamin paint'.

Yes, Jay Halsey is an amazing guy.
The search for the MK1 and XL chassis will continue...
In the mean time, more pars have arrived, including some choice wheels for my JRXT.

Re: Losi XXT CR Graphite Plus - Re-Rebuild
I love the lines of the XXT body, except for the wheel wells. I have always thought they are too small, and should be opened up to look like a proper race truck.
With one of my XXT bodies, I am thinking of cutting the openings wider. Before I do, I took some black tape and did a rough outline of how the openings would look once cut. They are rough, but give an idea of what it would look like. I like it better. What are your opinions?

Re: Losi XXT CR Graphite Plus - Re-Rebuild
The transmission and hydradrive on the 1st truck has been reassembled. New A&L outdrives, spur gear, internals. Still looking for a nice looking aluminum nut for the end of the shaft.

You can find bulk quantity anodized screws... not sure if they do anodized nuts.

Not sure about the tapered wheel wells, but I can see what you are saying. Maybe try them but at less of an angle? How are the current trucks cut out - is it worth looking for inspiration there?

Re: Losi XXT CR Graphite Plus - Re-Rebuild
I agree. I think taking off just a little, in a more rounded line will look nice. Most current trucks have a more gently outward cut, which I want to emulate.jamin wrote:Not sure about the tapered wheel wells, but I can see what you are saying. I am not sure If I should start the rebuild of the truck yet. Ideally I would like to wait for an XL chassis and MK1 motor plate, but I don't know if those will ever happen. Decisions, decisions...

Re: Losi XXT CR Graphite Plus - Re-Rebuild
It'll happen... Worst case, buy a used truck for the time being. I see plenty G+'s for sale, they can be had for cheap too.lavigna wrote:I agree. Re: Losi XXT CR Graphite Plus - Re-Rebuild
New parts, get em' while they're hot!
Latest haul of parts. Since it appears I am now building 2 XXT Graphite + trucks, I needed more stuff.
Soo happy to have found NIP A Main Hog Bones! I don't even think I can open these, they just look too cool in the original package. It has been a long journey to find these. Thanks Shoman for directly and indirectly helping me find both sets.

Re: Losi XXT CR Graphite Plus - Re-Rebuild
This is the result of opening up the wheel well lines on the body. It is very subtle, but I think it looks nice, and works better with the rest of the lines of the body. I think I will eventually do this with the rest of my XXT bodies.
Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I think it came out quite nice. What do you use to straighten your cut lines?
