bearrickster wrote:yea I thought so. but I think he really doesnt want to make any more and at 50 its enough money for his trouble. I had them made with a wing and sold them for 25 shipped. I think the price was right and I think I could sell about 10. but I just dont have the funds right now maybe at tax time I will get some?
I guess even if he charged you $10 a pop thats still $500 up front - alot of money, even in UK pounds!

thats about right plus shipping to me was about 35 bucks then shipping to everyone added up to 25 bucks each, thats not to bad I thought but it took months to get rid of them. I am going to try to get him to do a smaller run but I dont wat to bug him till I have the money to put out.

It seems ridiculous - at the time the Xcellorater shell was probably the most popular shell that people brought when the original kit one needed replacing - its a smoother more modern shape & had a 'tighter' design over the rear shock towers so was less prone to cracking at that area. If you buy a second hand XX the chances are it has this shell fitted.

Yet although the original XX shell is still available & I've even seen the CR shell listed on some model shop sites - new Xcelloraters seem impossible to find. Mine came from BrandonG on here, I think it was his last one - not sure if its a repro or an original, it might be worth sending him a pm?

The Xcellorator shell is actually almost identical to the Jammin XX shell (the jammin shell has an in-dent on the front) - I've seen a few of these go through on ebay - & one of those would be in-keeping with your username

My NIB XX is unfortunatly un-sealed

But it means I can rummage through the contents;

This original XX kit came from the States & is a basic kit that came with bushings & just the normal friction slipper, our UK kits were all supplied with ballraces & the hydradrive... as far as i'm aware. The kit boxes for the ballraced kits had a black background it seems, as opposed to the blue background of the basic kits (note the tickboxes on the bottom left corner)

This is my old XX  (note the blue motorplate  )

No, I have axles, I would like to find a NIB (if possible) set of aluminium dogbones though, they seem to be quite rare...

I'll give that guy a pm, thanks, and yes I remember the Jammin shell being the preferred one, it was also inspiration for my user name that I use everywhere, but also for the reason that its the second half of my first name 'Benjamin' hence why I only use one 'm'.

Anyway - that new kits looks nice, are you ever gonna build it? I dont get people that keep them in boxes, unless they have another kicking around. Building these things is half the fun! My friend in the states sent me a similar XXT kit that I am working on also, that came with bushings and friction slipper.

Shame you got rid of that XX, that looks sweet. I've always tried to keep all my cars, there is always a time when you wish you would of kept them. My son is growing up fast, he's already into cars big time (no thanks to me) so it inevitable he's going to want to drive some of mine...

the Xcelerator isnt a Losi shell. its a shell the guy who makes bodys for losi owns. Losi bought enough of them from him for the kits. he owns this mould. thats why I was able to buy them from him. he has all of the Losi moulds but cant make them because he doesnt own the mould.

Thats a shame, being friendly doesn't really take much effort. I hate dealing with people like that...

I think it would be different if I was a regular customer. but he's in Texas I am in Maryland. so I only see him every few years when I go see my sister. and he doesnt like selling bodies out the back door I think he feels like it might mess up his real deals.

I'm going to build it for sure! However this is definately one for the future - I have far to many other projects on the go before that gets built including a XXT Graphite+ & some other vintage Losis.... sometimes I even forget I have some of this stuff!

Yup - it was a shame that I sold the XX in the picture, I remember I sold it to a guy who went to our club, unfortunately he ripped me off - he gave me half the money & promised to pay the rest.... & I never saw him again :( BTW that paint design on the shell was one I replicated onto all of my mate's cars just with different base colours (mine was blue to match the motorplate) In the summer I went round to one of the guys houses & we went into the garage (to look at his dad's scooter) and hanging on the wall was the shell I sprayed for his car (red base colour) all those years back!

I've seen your XXT build - its always nice building these cars from crisp new parts... really takes you back to the excitement you felt when you first built the car. Its good to hear also that your lad is getting interested also.... I don't have any children as yet, but when I do I would love to share my hobby with them :)

I want to do a XXT G+, but I need the chassis - I cant find one anywhere though. The graphite suspension parts seem to be available though. I may end up with 2 XXT's if I can find a chassis. The G+ will be balls out, threaded shocks etc, fully up to date as possible.

Its always difficult to do one project at a time, I keep dabbling with both!

Wow, bet that brought back a few memories then. I've got my old XX shells...somewhere, I really want to find them!

My lad is not even 3 yet, can you imagine what I've let myself in for! hehehee
