There was a graphite chassis in addition to the fiberglass chassis down in the right lower corner on the RPS parts list Team Losi part TL7090, maybe this is what you have.

Thanks Al, that is what I was thinking, but I'm never really sure. Understanding the nature of the industry back then I may just be Delta and an RPS, depending on where it was manufactured/packaged/imported/exported/repackaged/resold, who really knows sometimes, but that's why this is fun ya know!.

The odd thing was that the holes in the front end were off from where they should have been to fit the stock wheel base/chain guide, so I filled them in and redrilled as necessary.


That's why I'm going to make my own front bumper/skid plate, because it's also cut (or maybe repaired?) a bit short and there's not enough left to the front edge of the chassis to fit the stock bumper. I think the guy I got the chassis from is over on the Tamiya Club, so I may go see if he has any opinion.

I got some Kydex sheet and cut out some custom parts this weekend..



Supposedly I can heat this stuff up, bend it, and get myself a custom bumper/front skid plate..



Any experience/tips out there? I think I have a plan involving a pre-shaped scrap of alum sheet to guide me to the right bend. Keep ya posted..

Heat gun, and a large diameter piece of PVC pipe to "wrap" it on

Good idea. I actually wrapped the "model" metal piece on 3/4" pvc pipe an it's the perfect radius. I don't have a heat gun. Maybe this is an excuse to buy another tool. Probably better than hot-potato-ing it out of the oven

Yeah, the oven thing will make the whole piece too soft--you just want to concentrate on the
area with the radius

Heat guns are pretty cheap at Lowes. As an added bonus you can make the paint on your shells flash in a hurry with it.

You have done a great job bringing this poor battered child back to respectability and certainly beyond. What did you do to the wheels, did you dye them as there was yellow peeking out from behind silver paint when you first got it?

Wow, you did an excellent job restoring that car.

To bend the bumper, you can boil some water and then only dip the part you want to bend. You can probably use some tongs to save your hands.

With regards to the wheels, some aluminum wheels will really make this car. I think Advanced made them for this model. There's a catalog in the Scans section.

I actually use a heatgun frequently. The trick is to keep it at a reasonable distance and not leave it on one spot. Works like a charm with no problems whatsoever.

Nah...I saw the emoticon at the end and I know most of us do know what we are doing. Just throwing caution to the wind for those that have never use one before...so easy to melt stuff with them
