Thanks for the advise, but don't you think acetone could melt the resin/epoxy glue of the tub?

i don't think it should hurt it. i know i've soaked ae woven chassis' with lacquer thinner and other types of paint reducers before without any issues. if you don't feel comfortable using it, try somthing a little less harsh, and just consentrate on the areas that need attention.

David, I have used acetone on a carbon fiber YZ-10 chassis and it didn't do anything to the chassis. BUT, do to the rarity of the chassis, please use caution, you never know. What worked for some might not work for others.

You can count on me on that one Jay, I'm not going to screw up a chassis I've been searching for for years and that cost me a pretty penny even if it was a "good deal" I'll work on it this weekend and will report to you. I'd really like it to look as good as possible

Check out that rear shock tower.

I wonder if you could get that white CA crazing off with some Tamiya rubbing compound/polish, or possibly some Mother's Mag polish. Between the two of those, depending on the surface I've been able to get a lot of not so nice things off of nice things.

Yes , fibrelyte made the chassis for COMCOM.

I always thought that fibre-lyte (GB) was distributed by COMCOM here in Germany.

Thanks, I do know about Fibre-Lyte and have the front and rear bulkheads but I didn't know what their relationship was with Com Com.

just a response to the first post saying that the fusion speed tub doesnt appear to be as "finished" as the fiberlyte tub..

"good" aerospace carbon fiber, should have a super smooth glossy finish, you should be able to "feel" the weave.

the smooth surface perfect stuff has extra glue that adds alot a weight, and not a whole heck of a lot of more strength, makes it more brittle and allows for less "give", which good carbon fiber should have "give".

fibre lyte's recent tub is exactly same with old comcom
after I got thick and heavy tub from them. I checked every details out. and the 2 CF tubs from FL is a perfect reissue now
even they still have the original template from comcom era.

I hope you get one and feel the speed and durability of CF tub. but please do not use carbon nose plate. it's bad for steering
worlds nose is perfect for look and stering.

I got my bonus today from 4 month x 24 hours x 7 days labor. some patents and new systems for nuclear facility works great

Well, couldn't wait for the weekend, I had to clean it to sleep better Some white spirit, WD40, a good brush and finally delicate surgery took car of it. There are still slight markings where that dried glue was, but I'm quite satisfied with it

Made some progress on the car this week-end. I dismantled a late 6-gear CE I bought for parts and pretty cheap (42$) and will use it as a donor car. All parts are now clean and white

The donor car had all kind of issues, weird camber on the front, reversed rear arm mounts, bent front tubes... but the plastic parts are in great condition, and that's all matters



I started to mock up things, nothing is really bolted on, but I just wanted to see where I was going with this one. Any suggestions are always welcome

those shock towers are real cool, but as you asked for suggestions; maybe keep them for another build.
I tend to dislike a mixture of weave-pattern carbon with non-pattern.
