Chassis is in very good condition with almost no scratches on the bottom, the inside of the tub is a bit rough (previous owner used a very sticky tape to protect and isolate the battery, the glue is now so dry that I bet I'll have a hard time to take it off). The front end has some weird kind of white stuff on it, looks like some cyanocrylate glue. I also have 2 ComCom tub chassies and I must say that they are much more well finished than the Fusionspeed one (check the last pictures for comparison). Any suggestions to make it look like new and refresh it (sanding, lacker...)?

Here it is without the parts that I will most probably sell in a few days:

Well yes and no, I had to trim it to build this, I hope I honored it enough!

Good question Al, I never obtained a satisfactory answer to it though. What confuses me is that the header card indicates Fibre-Lyte with ComCom stickers that also came inside the package...

I am really toying with the idea of making my own (not trying to stir anything up with that statement). A friend at work here says he has done it before. I just need to bring mine in to show him and then make the time.

Looks good David (as usual)!
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

you should know by now....... some things are better left unsaid. i can already see guys placing their orders.

too bad about the inside of that tub, david. the fusion tubs are very porous, so i don't know how well that gonna clean up. all you can do is go at it and see what happens.

i still think you got a good deal on it though. it looks structurally sound with no extra holes. even if it does come out perfect, you should be able to hide the flaws pretty well.

Jay: I don't think it's really difficult to make those, you just need raw materials and some moulding skills/knowledge

Jason: what would you do with the tub to clean it? I'll try to take that odd dried glue off with white spirit or WD40 and I was thinking about trying to gently sand the nose end and maybe apply a lacker?

smartie pants.....

i'd try to soak the glue spots up with so acetone or ligther fluid.... something like that. once the majority of it's gone, use a stiff bristle brush to try to work the glue out of the pores of the chassis. another thing you could do is shave the big stuff off with a razor blade first, then go at it with chemicals to soften up what's left. once you get it cleaned up as best you can, sand the entire chassis, and give it a quick coat of satin clear.
