I would not take it off unless you have to rebuild the transmission. It was supposed to keep the dirt out-- all my 6 gears had it. 8)

Edit... oops, what Asso_man! said.

i need to take the tape off the tower, not the trans............

The tape on the shock tower looks like the kit supplied white foam, but it's ugly. Goo-Gone or a good soak in WD40 will make it go away. No reason to leave it in place.

Been using both for years without problems. The fiberglass towers are nothing to worry about. I think mechanical removal will do more damage by causing scratches.

Goo-Gone is citrus based...WD40 is...WD40

Guys, he is talking about the tape residue on the rear shock tower! Remove it with some Goo-gone or light paint thinner.
But yes, keep the small tape cover on the trans..........................

Isn't that the wrong bulkhead for an "early" edinger?

None the less, a very nice car!

I was wrong!
I had to go and look.
I was thinking the bulkhead with fewer holes was appropriate for the early cars but they were in fact for the worlds car. My bad!

I had a root canal today so Im on some really good meds! They warned me not to drive or sign anything important today and I now see why!
Sorry
Very nice car!

you should be on the real good meds because you need a root canal, not because you had one. unless they caught yours before the pain started.

i've never been that lucky. i've had 8 or 9, with rediculous amounts of pain before every one. once they'd open the tooth up and yank the nerve out...................... instant relief. :)

I know what you mean! Last week I had crazy pain but couldn't get in to my dentist because I was 500 miles from home and the little town I was in only had few dentists and none could get me in. I ended up going to the ER and they gave me meds to relieve some of the pain until I got home.
I don't know why but they always have a hard time numbing my teeth for this kind of work. They gave me no less than 10 shots to numb the tooth so they could drill the nerve out! My tooth feels alot better today but my gums and the roof of my mouth hurt like hell because of all the shots they gave me, hence the reason Im still on meds.

I really wonder how many of these early Edinger '10 are still around in that shape, it's the second one I've ever seen (after mine  ) By the way, do you have the Goodyear writing on the rear tires? I also noticed that the rubber inscriptions on my box are a bit different:
