Re: Scorpion: Kyosho vs Cox
I have seen those pictures and the history and details on a website before. Are you running that site Tobbe?
It's been awhile since I saw it, but it sure was a good site.

Re: Scorpion: Kyosho vs Cox
Yes I do have have that one and enough parts for a new built. I just picked up a set of pargu2000 aluminum wheels. So my plan is an all stocky one and an all hopped up one.Tobbe70 wrote:
Thx ShodogYes, they are mine but I wouldn´t call them excellent, they are only restored on a very simply level but thank You anyway! If I am not mistaken, You also had/have a Scorpion with a chrome rearcage (a blue metallic-one, am I right??

I liked the old one because of all the info that was in there, but they both have excellent pictures of very nicely finished cars

Re: Scorpion: Kyosho vs Cox
Hey everyone! I haven't been on here forever! I noticed there were links to my website from this forum and checked it out today! As far as the differances between the Kyosho and Cox Scorpions, Tobbe nailed it. The main differance was that the Kyosho's were sold as a kit only! Full assembly was neccassary to get the Kyoshos going. Cox versions came about 90% assembled and needed very little to get them running. Kind of like an ARTR on todays market! You can see more of both versions on my website http://gassaninedesigns.com/ . There are links to Tobbes website, as well as my friend Francos on the links page of my site as well. These are very cool old buggies. Tobbes, and Showdogs are excellent examples of the cars.

The differences are not many: The decals and the box as far as I know. The chassies is the same, at least on the earlier versions. In Europe, the Scorpion was released by Graupner and the latest "normal-Scorpion" came with the white 5-spoke TS-rims, red frictionshocks and differential (some also had the 3-hole rear dampermount) and I don´t know if those upgrades also were on the later Cox-versions, the earlier version is practically the same though:) Other small differences (at least on the later Graupner-versions) are the small "lips" on the rear plates that holds the suspensionarms to prevent the dogbones from falling out since without them, the rearaxle tended to get pushed down too far. Also, the front pivot-arm were the same as on the Tomahawk and the TS (a little more robust). These are also small things that I am not sure about, if they also were seen on the Cox-versions. Hope this helped You out at least a little![]()
