a little work in progress update. I got the rest of the car back together and the old man found the top he originally had on it, an 80's camaro'ish body.
The rear body mounts were pretty bent up, so I made new ones from 3/16" steel brake line. They still need to be drilled for pins and cut to length. The front body mounts need to be spaced out and up to fit this body, after that it is ready to run except for batteries and un-glued rear tires.

Did you get a replacement source for the kydex. If you did get new kydex what size and how did you cut it.
You did a superb job of restoring this beast and it is now a beautiful work of art. I'm sure your Dad is proud of you and the job you have done.

Thanks for the kind words.
I did not get any replacement kydex as the exact stuff they used has to be special ordered and way too much needs to be ordered at once to make it affordable.

i restored one of these for a buddy many years back. it was the coolest car i ever ran. i just loved the old school simple rigged way it was put together. bare bones. it was a blast, i had it for quite some time, wishing he forgot about it but he finally came by and got it....
