Re: 6 gear Graphite off CL
Nice repair -
That nose is now good for another 20 years of use.
Why is it, that Your "daily" runner is not a graphite chassis? Too flexible?

No real reason for it. I just always seemed to acquire tub cars.
All of my dirt oval cars had graphite chassis though. My graphite team car, then my RC10 with a Raborn chassis, Kranzel's 2.25 Terminator....

Re: 6 gear Graphite off CL
The Graphite is a very cool car and always grabs my attention when I see anything posted about it.
I recall reading somewhere that many of AE's team drivers didn't like to race them off road. Was this due to flexibility or weight or some other reason?
I have a graphite runner (although it has an aftermarket chassis plate) and I find it harder to dial in than my tub car but I just assumed this was related to my limited tuning abilities. When track conditions are right, it's fast - the tub car seems to be more forgiving when track conditions are not as good. I can't explain why but it can be frustrating so I'll return to the tub car.
That chassis nose repair turned out great scr8p.

$20? Crikey, what a great find dude. Pretty good shape and good repair on the nose.

Ya know, was just thinking that that chassis would be a good candidate for a replica of one of Masami's '89 graphite cars:

He seemed to have liked to cut the front end down to the body mount.

Gotta figure out exactly what I want to do with it first. I'll tear it down, clean everything, and go from there. I should be able to CA an clamp the nose and it look alright from the top. Put a bumper on it and you wouldn't see the bottom. But we'll see.
I dug out an old Futaba magnum jr. radio and got the electronics all set up. Charged up a nicad pack and took it outside to rip around a bit. Runs pretty good.![]()
Always wondered why the guys never used a small bumper on the graphite cars! Crazy to me.
