pro2 just amazing. I still have one, hpi rs4 series more ligntweight and competition design than tamiya cars that period.

Recently I picked up a new built Pro2 to chop up for parts to freshen my Pro2

I used the carbon upper and lower chassis, carbon belt tensioner, motor plate, front bumper and servo from the donor Pro2. I also installed a few other parts. Lunsford hinge pins. Carbon nerf wings. A set of shocks with threaded bodies and aluminum spring perches. Refreshed the 2 Speed transmission with some new parts.

It turned out pretty sweet

I found these parts but been too busy to install. I believe I’ve got the aftermarket center piece but still on the hunt for the hpi branded one

Tell you what, mate..... I'll pull this one from the chassis, check how it looks, and if it's clean enough, I'll put it back in the bag and we can get it organised :P :D

Always loved the RS cars but you need to swap the rear tires they are on backwards......................

The RS4 Pro and Pro2 were great cars. Tamiya may have kicked the genre off, but HPI made the competition end of things explode. When I started racing on road, these cars were in a huge percentage of the pits.

In a now regrettable decision, I used a Hot Trick Frog chassis to make the roll center plate in Shodog's last picture. The roll center on the rear of the car was too low, and you had to use a way harder spring than was optimal, especially on carpet. Dug out the old Frog chassis, and blam, raised roll center. To add insult to injury, I used the rest of the chassis to make a shock tower for an FSR Bullet.

Those were good times, X patterns and Super Radials ruled the day. The stock 15-40 tires that came on the Pro2 worked really well, too.

Do u wish u had used the hot trick chassis to build a "red prince" ? Y/N

It was a red prince at one time. I really had no interest in a optioned out Frog 10 years after I had moved on to RC10s, sedans, etc. This had sat in my parent's basement for years. Had I known so many people would be interested in Hot Trick parts years later, I would not have used the chassis, or thrown out the red aluminum!

Thanks for the compliments on this car. I came across some pics of my pro2 before I sold it to my neighbor.

It’s cool seeing old photos and how I had it set up in my budget days.

I’ve been tinkering with it over the last few years. Painted a Camaro body using the same two part paint process. It looks killer, just need to finish applying the decals.

Nice clean look to it with that color.
