I noticed the front wheel hubs have locks on them on one direction. They aren't consistent either, here is a side by side shot of one facing outward and one facing inward. To be honest only one out of the 4 locks. My big question is why, keep it from rolling backward

I was just thinking it would help with rotating the front wheel, one of them, forward.

The thought is that the freewheeling front wheels can pull you through the corners. I also read that the gear ratios are different between front and back so that the front wheels spin a bit faster than the rears.

The one way bearings allow for full lockup or full power going to that wheel under acceleration. You have vast amounts of oversteer off power and understeer on power. The problem is it acts like a 2wd off power, braking is purely 2wd as well!

The story behind this car, I never used one back in the day, did not even know about the 834b back then. I traded with a friend in Calgary a few years ago. It also came with the original box, that was in perfect condition. This car was in my house fire and box cover was totally burnt, yet the car and parts inside were wet but safe. Thankfully, Anthony has offered to restore a few of my cars and bodies, so I tossed him this one! As usual, his work is top notch, thank you Anthony! I have a spot saved for this one!

the one way bearings could be dirty. flush them out with some light oil the best you can and they should begin to work a little better. They are also dependent on the front axle surface so if they are chewed up or not smooth they can act erratic. you can also replace them if need be, I believe Avid might sell them in the right size.

We have NIP front axles, and I took the time to lube them up, so once it's time for the front assembly everything should be perfect.

Step 3: Rear sway bar.

I soaked all the parts in Goo Gone to get the balls nice and smooth and to remove the grime and rust from the steel wire, brass, screws, etc.

I then wiped everything down and cleaned them. I used bearing oil on the balls. Aluminum polished the brass and the screw heads and then cleaned them. The rust came right off of the wire. Then assembled them, no loctight on the screws since it's not going to be ran.

A bit of polish on the hubs too, I think I may have mentioned that.

Done the chassis, here is the top side... I had to start with 220 grit and work my up to polishing. I got most of the scr8pes out and it's looking pretty good...as good as it's gonna get anyway At least I can start adding to the chassis now.

Step 4: for me anyway, I dance to the beat of my own drum

Front end assembly is gonna be epic with all of those NIP parts. I NEED wheel hub bearings Rod!!! 3mm x 10mm I believe, I need 4 of them, I used the bushings I have, but bearings would function better on the shelf lol.

Actually, what I need, is to get the damn front center shaft and out drive apart. It is all jammed up. I just hope I can get it apart so I can use the NIP parts.

Reference photo...I have a feeling they will clean up nicely. I'm thinking of using 35wt or 40wt oil, what are people using?

Progress photo. I have the front bulkhead soaking in Spray Nine to help loosen up the grip the bearing has. I'm out of Goo Gone, so Spray Nine it is.

It looks to be David, but this one has two extra holes that appear to be factory, one behind each side of the cross brace. When I got the car an antenna mount was mounted in one of them.
