The YZ10 body looks awesome! Are these bodies being done for a customer, sale or your private collection?

Re: My Yokomo Body Challenge
Jirka, first off, thanks, but now I have to do a more accurate job. Before you posted your pics I was just going to do whatever I wanted
. Now, since I have so many great photos to look at, I have to do a good job
Got a bit off topic there, but the TBG body as of last night is now up for the taking. Last night I was told to keep that body and do what I want with it. There was a change of heart and we couldn't get BK to respond for other pics. I guess now if anyone wants a painted 93 yz10 body, the first PM gets it. It can be painted however ya want.

Thanks everyone both here and on facebook for the compliments! The two original bodies are Rod's (slotcarod) and will be used on cars in his collection. After his house fire he lost a lot of stuff, including painted bodies I've done for him, so I'm just trying to help him out. Rod has a huge undertaking ahead of him in cleaning the surviving collection. He even had to clean the soot off of these bodies before handing them to me.pumpkinfish wrote:The YZ10 body looks awesome! Are these bodies being done for a customer, sale or your private collection?

Re: My Yokomo Body Challenge
I started masking the Masami body up, and I really appreciated those photos Jirka! Thanks for pointing out the replica too. I don't need the high res photo, the one I have is good enough to see where to draw the lines.

Re: My Yokomo Body Challenge
Do you have anymore of the 870 bodies on hand? I would love to have a Masami body but don't want to use the decals on ebay and don't have the patience/skills to pull off all those fades.

Sorry man, that TBG one is the only extra yokomo body I have.pumpkinfish wrote:Do you have anymore of the 870 bodies on hand? I would love to have a Masami body but don't want to use the decals on ebay and don't have the patience/skills to pull off all those fades.
While I'm posting, I might as well add a photo update on the 870C Masami body

Re: My Yokomo Body Challenge
I think the masking is ready for the body, but the wing isn't a correct wing. Rod, I'll leave you with this awaiting image of the masked body.
I just realized that I have to mask off the windows to paint the black trim. Here's the wing you gave me Rod. The folded over lexan will prevent me from painting the sides correctly. Did you want me to get creative or wait on painting until I get a correct wing?
Also, for touchup paint on the other body, I'll save what custom paint I have left.

Re: My Yokomo Body Challenge
I painted the right side of this bottle with the paint I used for David's 91 RC10 because I didn't have enough to spray Rod's under tray, wing and body. The left side of the bottle is the mixture with the added volume. I think it looks close enough...it might be a shade lighted now, but you're getting what you're getting Rod

Re: My Yokomo Body Challenge
Here ya go Rod! I've got to wait until the black shading on the wing ends are good and dry before I mask it off and paint the white. I should have do it the other way around with the white first, but I'll just get the mask right on the lines.

Re: My Yokomo Body Challenge
Hey Anthony, how did you like my daughters comment about "flaming rainbows" on that body?

Re: My Yokomo Body Challenge
lol, I tag Masami himself about it, so he'll see it. I'm sure it's not the first time he's heard someone comment on it, I know it's not the first comment I gotten on it.slotcarrod wrote:Hey Anthony, how did you like my daughters comment about "flaming rainbows" on that body?
Those bodies came out amazing, so I don't care what anyone says

I haven't painted a body I've been proud of in a while...besides mine lol, and the last 2 Masami 91 RC10 bodies

Re: My Yokomo Body Challenge
Thanks for the compliments everyone.
Looks like it only took less than a week to do those two bodies and I'm working in the field for another 3 weeks possibly. My issue is that I brought the third body with me and I'm sure I'll get bored and want to paint it.
I'm between the Masami version or the Cliff Lett version. I might sell it, so I think the Masami body would sell easier

Re: My Yokomo Body Challenge
Now that I got the wing painted for the Masami body, here's some photos of them together.
