I decided to shorten the rear of the chassis since there wasn't going to be a motor hanging out back there. I shortened it by about 0.4". Now it will serve as a bumper, after i add some bracing to it.
I also milled the battery cup off the bulkhead.

I've been busy machining parts for the car. I shortened some chassis stiffener tubes and made a bracket that picks up the bottom two shock tower mount screws. This should stiffen up the rear bumper pretty well.

Mounted on the car.

i got the rear chassis brace system mostly done too. At the heart of it is two Lunsford 3.5mm x 3.125 Ti turnbuckles. They are attached to the trans brace with ballstuds on the trans side of the brace, and then to the chassis with mounts I made that bolt to the chassis and have ballstuds on the top . I'm still going to add some detail to the mounts, but that's the basic shape. I still need to drill the chassis to attach them too.

Nice work! I like the center brace and the rear bumper is really cool looking!

Last night i machined a little detail into the rear chassis brace brackets, and drilled the chassis out for them as well as for rear battery holder

And with the battery in place...

I'm pretty happy with how this is shaping up. Can't wait to drive it.

Thank you!
Yes, it is super fun, and opens up a whole new world of projects I can undertake. Honestly, after having it for just a couple weeks, I'm kicking myself in the ass for not buying one years ago. Better late than never though :P

I can relate to that. I've used my brother's mill and lathe when I've had the chance, and saved a bundle on machine shop costs.

Nice machine work man. be careful cause it will get addicting and you will soon see yourself buying tons of tooling and the next thing you know you will be looking for a cnc. I know because I have went down that exact road.

Looks great and I am looking forward to more.

Thanks Jake. I'll design up a cf battery brace soon and send you the file, see if you are willing to make it.
