Graphite or pan chassis for resto mod racer?

Agreed. I have an original AE chassis that appears very stiff and an aftermarket version that is much more flexible. I was thinking of making a top deck for it and using a B4 front nose and top plate with it. Even if it didn't work on the track , it'd sure look cool lol

The graphite helped me with more consistent laps over the composite chassis that I started with...Now my car was based on the ultima and I converted it to on road / oval...It still had a full trans and shocks...I didn't pick up speed but it helped me with consistent lap times...What helped me with speed was practice practice practice...And I was able to hit the minimum weight right on the nose...Everybody else who raced the B main at that time was a little heavier then me...

To correct what I posted previously, my comments on the tub being the chassis of choice are based on off-road. For on road and dirt oval carbon and composites are more common.

When I raced stock class graphite was the chassis to have. The whole track was soft and loamy and at those speeds you didn't see much of a handling advantage due to the chassis. The improvement was in the lower weight since we were power and runtime limited. Lighter cars didn't sink into the dirt as much either. You either ran graphite or you swiss cheesed the tub chassis. Things are very different today though so the same justifications don't necessarily apply anymore.
